New Year…New Leader

Let’s all welcome your new President Jimmy Matthews and First Lady Joan Matthews, or for those younger members…The CEO of the CFO and his better half. Jimmy has been a member since 1989, and for most of those years, Jimmy has been in charge of the concession stand. We’re looking forward to a successful year under Jimmy’s leadership. Our first meeting October 4^ththe board will be picking their teams for the New Year.

I would like to thank everyone for all the hard work that it took to make this past year a successful one for me. There is no way one person can do the Presidents job by their self. It takes a great Board and Office Staff, but without the support of our membership, none of this would be possible.

I would also like to thank my wife, Robin Bass and my daughter Taylor for all the help and support that they gave me over this past year.

It’s Fall Ball Season…

Through out the month of October the Park will full of ball players. Tri-County Softball will be back at Cape Fear on Saturdays. As you know in the past the park is full, and we will be needing some help in the concession stand. The money raised during Fall Ball goes to improvement of the ball park.

Membership Drive in Progress

We are always looking for new members to keep our club growing. We at Cape Fear are part of something great, and to keep this heading in the right direction we need to grow. Join us by inviting a friend to a meeting. If that don’t have time or feel like they can’t make any meetings, invite them to be a Friend of Optimist “FOO” member. Any questions please call Jimmy Matthews or Auston Pusey.

Club House Rental

As a member you are entitled to rent the club house. If you are interested, it’s on a first come basis. Rental is $50 with a $40 cleaning deposit, checks are payable to Cape Fear Optimist and due at the time of reservation. To reserve please call Calvin Miller at 471-51

Cape Fear Optimist Ladies Auxiliary

September 12, 2011 The Ladies Auxiliary held our Induction of Officers Dinner at the Cape Fear Optimist Clubhouse. Susan Ludlum was the Chair-person organizing this event. Thanks Susan you did a wonderful job.

Our special guest speakers were Jimmy Matthews- President of CFO, Allan Ludlum President Elect. Each of them gave a background of how they became members of the CFO. Thank you guys for attending our special night. The ladies are always willing to work with you anyway we can.

We were so happy to have Jackie Blanton, Heather Tench, Cozette Gore, and Amy Galliher as our NEW MEMBERS. We are hoping these ladies will enjoy being with us, I know we will them. Following the Induction Dinner a General Meeting was held.

The first fundraiser for this year will be a Quarter Auction. This will be held at the CFO Clubhouse NOVEMBER 18^th. Tickets are on sale for $5.00. You may get your tickets from any of our members. Great fun and good food.

Our next meeting will be held Monday, October 10^th, 7:00 at the CFO Clubhouse.

It is an honor to serve as President of the Ladies Aux. thank you ladies for your support and hard work. I am looking forward to a great year.

MEETINGS:

You as Optimist members are invited to all regular meetings and bring a Guest to join us, especially during Eat’n Meet’ns.

Meetings are held on the first, second, and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at our club house.

Our third Tuesday is our Eat’n Meet’n when our board members take turns cooking for you and your families.

Hope to see you at the meetings and bring a guest (potential new member).
